January 2020: The Changes Keep Coming

On New Year’s Day 2020 I awoke to find myself still breathing.  I laid my head in my hands and cursed that death had not come for me.  Yet another loss I would need to manage.

All right that’s it! ENOUGH!  I could not live here any longer.  If I was going to live than I needed to start living.

I began to do what I always do.  I needed to get my life back on track.  How do I do that?  Time for research… I love research.

First stop was my health.  I needed to get this weight down and get off of these meds.  I had success with weight loss a couple of time in my life using the Atkin’s diet.  Yes, I know it has its detractors.  I have but one rebuttal for all of those.  IT WORKS!

The modern interpretation of the diet Atkin’s popularized is referred to as the Ketogenic Diet.

Although the “Keto” diet actually predates Atkin’s it was Atkin’s who popularized the notion that if you cut sugars from your diet and consume additional protein you will decrease hunger and cut weight.

Keto works along this same line although it has been determined that fat is the key to being thin.  Wait what?  Dietary fat does not make you fat.  It actually helps you feel full so you eat less.  Sorry, the 80’s lied to you.

Sugar is the ultimate evil here.  You cannot lose weight if you are consuming sugar.  This includes the starches in grains, potatoes and rice.   Remove these from your diet and the weight will fall.

I am NOT a health care provider or a nutritionist.  The only thing that I can tell you is that this works.  On the day that I write this, I have lost 57 pounds in a little over 6 months.

To top it all off… I did it with 0 exercise!
